Ijtema To Be Held After National Election: Religious Affairs Adviser
He said the exact date of the Ijtema would be determined later in consultation with both parties
Religious Affairs Adviser AFM Khalid Hossain has announced that the next Bishwa Ijtema will be held after the 13th national parliamentary election.
“Both factions of Tabligh Jamaat have agreed to hold the Ijtema after the election,” he said.
Explaining the decision, the adviser noted, “A large number of law enforcement personnel are needed to ensure security during the Ijtema. Since such deployment will not be possible before the election, both groups have consented to hold it afterward.”
He made the remarks on Sunday following a meeting with the two rival factions of Tabligh Jamaat.
The adviser added that the final date of the Ijtema would be decided later in consultation with both sides.
Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Industries and Housing & Public Works Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan, and Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Nasimul Gani were also present at the meeting.
