Five Bangladeshi Nationals Die in Maldives Gas Cylinder Explosion
The information was confirmed on Friday by the Bangladesh High Commission in the Maldives.
Five Bangladeshi nationals were killed and two others critically injured after a gas cylinder exploded at workers’ quarters of an under-construction building on Dhigurah Island in the Maldives.
The Bangladesh High Commission in the Maldives confirmed the incident on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Taj Uddin Islam, Md Sadar Ali, Md Robin Molla, Shafiqul Islam and Md Nurnabi Sarker.
The injured — Jamal Uddin and Saddam Hossain — are receiving treatment at IGM Hospital in Malé.
Officials from the High Commission have contacted the injured workers and are closely monitoring their condition.
The mission also said efforts are underway to repatriate the bodies of the deceased to Bangladesh as soon as possible.
