Mustafizur becomes first Bangladeshi to join Birmingham Phoenix in the Hundred.
Bangladesh pace star Mustafizur Rahman has secured a spot in The Hundred, becoming the first Bangladeshi cricketer to feature in England’s unique tournament.
The left-arm fast bowler was picked up late in Thursday’s draft by Birmingham Phoenix for £100,000 — roughly Tk1 crore 64 lakh 33 thousand in Bangladeshi currency.
The player draft for The Hundred was held in London, with nearly 1,000 cricketers from around the world registering for the competition.
However, only 247 players made the final shortlist, highlighting the intense competition for places in the tournament.
A total of 23 Bangladeshi cricketers had entered the draft, but only Mustafizur Rahman and Rishad Hossain were included in the final list.
