Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, who unveiled the national budget for FY2026–27 in Parliament on Thursday, will address the customary post-budget press conference today (Friday).

The briefing is scheduled to begin at 3:00pm at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital.

During the press conference, the Finance Minister is expected to elaborate on key features of the proposed budget, the government's policy priorities, and its plans to tackle prevailing economic challenges. He will also answer questions from economists, business leaders, stakeholders and the public regarding various budget proposals.

The Finance Minister has proposed a Tk 938,000 crore budget for FY2026–27—the largest in the country’s history—with a strong emphasis on easing inflationary pressures, generating employment through greater investment and business expansion, strengthening social safety net programmes, and promoting a more productive and decentralised economy.

Titled “Economic Democratisation and Decentralisation: Bangladesh on the Path to a Trillion-Dollar Economy,” the proposed budget is equivalent to 13.7 percent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Presenting the budget, Amir Khasru said the government has launched coordinated initiatives across multiple sectors to build a more productive, employment-focused and inclusive economy. He also outlined a vision of a Bangladesh where entrepreneurship and innovation thrive, hard work is fairly rewarded, and the benefits of economic growth are shared across all sections of society.
