ECNEC approves 12 development projects worth Tk 7,150.21 crore
The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) today approved 12 development projects involving a total outlay of Tk 7,150.21 crore, entirely funded by the government’s own resources.
The approval came at ECNEC’s fifth meeting of the 2025–26 fiscal year, held at the NEC Conference Room on the Planning Commission premises, with Chief Adviser and ECNEC Chairperson Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus presiding.
According to a Planning Ministry press release, among the approved projects, eight are new, two are revised, and two others have been granted time extensions without additional costs.
The meeting was attended by Planning Adviser Dr. Wahiduddin Mahmud; Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed; Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs and Expatriates' Welfare Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul; Home Affairs and Agriculture Adviser Lt Gen Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd); Industries and Housing Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan; Power, Energy & Mineral Resources and Transport Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan; Environment and Water Resources Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan; Health Adviser Nurjahan Begum; Disaster Management Adviser Farooq E Azam, Bir Pratik; and Education Adviser Professor Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar, among others.
The 12 projects approved include:
Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Ministry (Rural Development & Cooperatives Division)

Important Rural Infrastructure Development in Manikganj District – Tk 450 crore.

Rural Infrastructure Development in Satkhira District – Tk 1,930 crore.
Ministry of Agriculture
3. Improvement of Minor Irrigation System in Haor Areas of Kishoreganj and Netrokona Districts – Tk 164.94 crore.
Ministry of Education
4. Infrastructure Development of Gazipur Agricultural University – Tk 567.29 crore.
5. Establishment of One Engineering College in Each of Chattogram, Khulna, Rajshahi and Rangpur Divisions (2nd Revised) – additional Tk 394.84 crore.
Ministry of Liberation War Affairs
6. Construction of Independence Monument at Suhrawardy Udyan, Dhaka (Phase 3) (1st Revised).
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare
7. Implementation of Remaining Activities of Essential Family Planning, Maternal, Child and Reproductive Health Services under the Completed 4th Sector Programme (1st Revised).
8. Integrated Development for Operational Management of the Directorate of Health Education, NIPORT, and Directorate of Nursing & Midwifery – Tk 211.90 crore.
9. Implementation of Essential Remaining Activities of PFD, HEF, IFM, HRD and SWPMM – Tk 1,546.45 crore.
Ministry of Defence
10. Construction of ‘B’-Type Officers’ Residential Buildings at Nirjhor Residential Area, Dhaka Cantonment – Tk 177.80 crore.
Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges
11. 4th Time Extension (2nd Revised) for Construction of Kalia Bridge over Nabaganga River on the Narail–Kalia District Highway.
Ministry of Industries
12. BSCIC Industrial Park, Tangail (3rd Revised) – additional Tk 39.43 crore.
The meeting was also informed about nine projects that had been previously approved by the Planning Adviser.
