Bangladesh and Malaysia have agreed to enhance cooperation in religious affairs.
The understanding was reached during a virtual meeting on Tuesday between Bangladesh’s Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad and Malaysia’s Religious Affairs Minister Zulkifli Hasan, according to a handout issued on Wednesday.
During the online discussion, the two ministers held constructive talks focused on expanding collaboration in the religious sector between the two friendly nations. They placed particular emphasis on exchanging experience and best practices to further improve the management and administration of Hajj, Zakat, and religious education systems.
Both sides also discussed ways to boost institutional efficiency, enhance transparency in religious activities, and implement structured capacity-building programmes for officials and stakeholders involved in Hajj operations and Zakat management.
In addition, they explored opportunities for cooperation in modernising religious education to address contemporary challenges while upholding core spiritual values.
The meeting ended on a positive note, with both ministers expressing optimism about strengthening bilateral ties for the benefit of the Muslim communities in their respective countries.
