BTV to Broadcast FIFA World Cup 2026 Matches

The government has arranged for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be broadcast on Bangladesh Television (BTV) in partnership with several other entities, Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon announced today.

In a statement, the minister said the ministry would soon share detailed information with media organizations regarding the broadcasting arrangement.

“I am delighted to inform the people of the country that BTV, together with a number of partners, will broadcast the FIFA World Cup 2026,” he told the national news agency BSS.

Currently visiting China at the invitation of the Chinese government, Swapon expressed appreciation to the media organizations and ministry officials who contributed to securing the arrangement.

“I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all media outlets and the officials of our ministry who were directly and indirectly involved in this effort,” he said.

The minister also attributed the achievement to the guidance of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and expressed optimism that the entire tournament could be aired without any expenditure from the public exchequer.

“We have achieved this success under the wise leadership of our leader, Mr. Tarique Rahman. I hope we will be able to telecast all World Cup matches without spending any public funds,” he added.

The ministry is expected to announce further details on the broadcasting rights and partnership arrangements later today.
