Afghanistan completed a commanding sweep over Bangladesh, sealing a 3-0 ODI series victory with a crushing 200-run win in the third and final match at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.

After posting a formidable 293 for 9, Afghanistan’s bowlers tore through Bangladesh’s lineup for just 93 — handing the visitors their heaviest ODI defeat in recent years. The result mirrored Bangladesh’s own 3-0 T20I series win earlier in the tour, but this time the tables were emphatically turned.

Openers Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz laid the foundation with a 99-run stand, before Zadran anchored the innings with a composed 95. Gurbaz added a brisk 42 off 41 balls, while Sediqullah Atal chipped in with 36. A brief middle-order stumble, sparked by part-timer Saif Hassan’s 3 wickets in 4 overs, was steadied by veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi’s explosive finish.

Nabi’s unbeaten 62 off just 37 balls — featuring six fours and four sixes — propelled Afghanistan to a strong total, as he and Azmatullah Omarzai (19) added 44 runs in the final two overs. Saif Hassan was the standout for Bangladesh with figures of 3 for 49, while pacer Nahid Rana left the field injured midway through his final spell.

Bangladesh’s chase unraveled almost immediately. Openers Mohammad Naim (7) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (3) fell early, and only Saif Hassan offered resistance with a gritty 43 off 54 balls, laced with two fours and three sixes. Rashid Khan wreaked havoc in the middle overs, taking three wickets in as many overs, including Towhid Hridoy’s first-ball dismissal.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz (6), Shamim Hossain (0), and Nurul Hasan Sohan (2) failed to make an impact as the collapse deepened. Young pacer Bilal Sami, in just his second ODI, delivered a career-defining spell with 5 for 27, while Rashid complemented him with 3 for 24. Only Hasan Mahmud (9) reached double figures apart from Saif, as Bangladesh were bowled out in 27.1 overs.

The emphatic victory not only sealed a historic 3-0 sweep for Afghanistan but also underscored the widening gap between the two sides in ODI cricket. For Bangladesh, it marked a sobering end to a tour that began with optimism but concluded in complete disarray.
