Adani Expresses Hope Bangladesh Will Clear All Outstanding Dues

Bangladesh has significantly reduced its outstanding dues to India’s Adani Power under a 2017 power-supply agreement, and the company remains confident of recovering the remaining $900 million, according to Chief Financial Officer Dilip Jha.

Payment delays stemmed from a surge in import costs following the Russia-Ukraine war and political unrest last August that led to the ousting of the prime minister. Adani had halved power supply last year due to the non-payment but has since resumed full delivery as Bangladesh began making regular monthly payments.

"We are supplying full power... the payment we are receiving now is more than the monthly billing," Jha told analysts in a post-earnings call, expressing optimism that the remaining dues will also be cleared. So far, Bangladesh has paid nearly $1.2 billion of the total $2 billion billed.
