The World Bank has reaffirmed its support for Bangladesh's interim government
Anna Bjerde assured Dr. Muhammad Yunus, "You can rely on us for any support you need."
On Thursday, World Bank Managing Director Anna Bjerde reaffirmed the global lender’s support for Bangladesh's interim government in its efforts to rebuild the country.
Bjerde made the statement during a meeting with Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum annual gathering in Davos, Switzerland, as reported by the Chief Adviser's Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder. "We want to express our support. You can count on us for any assistance you need," Bjerde told Yunus.
The World Bank’s Managing Director for Operations also mentioned that the bank is eager to offer its support to Bangladesh in the latter half of the year.
The discussions also touched on the July uprising, the reform initiatives of the interim government, and the current state of the country’s economy.
