On Thursday, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus urged individuals to increase their contributions to social welfare, emphasizing that working for others brings greater fulfillment than serving oneself.

Speaking at the inauguration of a walkathon and social services conference at Manik Mia Avenue in Dhaka, the Nobel Laureate highlighted humanity’s innate tendency to help others, urging people to nurture and activate this natural inclination.

"People hold more power than the government, and their collective efforts can create significant social change," Yunus said. He encouraged citizens to make social work a daily practice, turning it into a habit and fulfilling their civic duty.

He also emphasized that the Ministry of Social Welfare’s role is to remind citizens of their responsibility to serve society voluntarily.

The event was also attended by Social Welfare Minister Sharmin S Murshid and three representatives from the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, which played a pivotal role in ousting the Sheikh Hasina regime on August 5.
