A large number of leaders and activists have gathered in the Naya Paltan area of the capital as the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) prepares to hold a procession to observe "National Revolution and Solidarity Day."

BNP supporters began assembling in groups in front of the party's headquarters in the afternoon. After a brief rally, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will officially inaugurate the procession. The rally started at around 2:00 pm on a makeshift stage. Those present were seen in a festive atmosphere, wearing colorful attire and waving national and party flags.

The crowd extended to nearby areas including Malibagh, Motijheel, and Shahbagh, causing significant traffic congestion. This marks the first procession organized by the party since the removal of the Bangladesh Awami League government on August 5.

Under the previous administration, the party faced restrictions in holding political programs, often facing delays in obtaining permits. The procession route, which once was confined to Shantinagar and Malibagh, has now been extended to Manik Mia Avenue, passing through Kakrail, Shahbagh, Karwan Bazar, and Farmgate.

BNP’s acting chairman, Tarique Rahman, will address the concluding rally virtually at Manik Mia Avenue.
