690 tonnes of Indian rice set to arrive at Chattogram port on Thursday

A shipment of 690 metric tonnes (MT) of parboiled rice is set to arrive at Chattogram Port from India early Thursday to stabilize the local market.
According to a media release from the Ministry of Commerce on Wednesday, the Indian vessel Tanais Dream carrying the shipment is scheduled to dock at the port around 5:30 am.
This marks the first batch of rice imports from India since the Dr. Muhammad Yunus-led interim government assumed office.
The rice is being imported under an agreement signed between the two countries on 11 November. The consignment will be released shortly after undergoing a physical inspection, the release stated.
