A total of 186 Bangladeshi nationals evacuated from conflict-hit Iran left Baku for Dhaka today on a special Biman flight and are expected to arrive early tomorrow.

According to a foreign ministry press release issued this evening, the evacuees first crossed the Iran–Azerbaijan border by land before boarding the special flight operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines in Baku.

They are scheduled to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 1:30am on March 21.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinated the evacuation with assistance from the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, along with Bangladesh missions in Tehran, Ankara, New Delhi and Geneva.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines operated the emergency repatriation flight. The government also expressed deep gratitude to the governments of Iran and Azerbaijan, as well as the International Organization for Migration (IOM), for their support in ensuring the safe return of the nationals.
