Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md Sajjat Ali has called for increased caution ahead of this year’s Martyrs Day and International Mother Language Day, noting the "different context" in which these events will be observed.

At a coordination meeting held at the DMP Headquarters on Monday, he remarked, “This year’s Martyrs Day and International Mother Language Day will be observed in a changed situation and context. Everyone must stay alert to prevent any untoward incidents by opportunists.”

The meeting, focused on security measures and traffic management for the upcoming events, was attended by representatives from various agencies, including intelligence, the Dhaka University administration, the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, and other government departments.

The commissioner emphasized the need for intelligence agencies to intensify surveillance and assured the DMP’s full support to the Dhaka University administration to ensure smooth operations at the Central Shaheed Minar. Officials also shared their views and recommendations on security and logistics.
