The European Union has called on all parties to engage in constructive dialogue to help advance a democratic Bangladesh.

The European Union (EU) Delegation in Bangladesh has urged all stakeholders to engage constructively in the country’s political process following Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus’s announcement of an election timeline.
“The Chief Adviser has announced a timeline leading to elections. The EU has consistently supported Bangladesh's political transition, emphasizing the importance of the rule of law, fundamental rights, and democratic elections,” the EU said in a statement posted on its verified Facebook page after the Chief Adviser’s address to the nation on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha.
Describing the announcement as a pivotal moment for the country, the EU Delegation called for broad engagement and collaboration.
“The EU Delegation calls on all stakeholders to participate constructively in this process and to advance an ambitious reform agenda that can ensure a more stable, prosperous, and democratic Bangladesh,” the statement added.
Earlier in the day, Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus announced that the next national elections would be held on a date in the first half of April 2026.
