The Energy Minister has stated that there is an adequate supply of fuel oil.

Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, Adviser to the Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, has said that the country has ample fuel oil reserves and there is no risk of a shortage.

He made the remarks on Tuesday morning at the Secretariat, marking the first working day after the Eid holidays.

The minister explained that the recent situation was largely driven by a sudden surge in fuel demand. Despite this, supply remains sufficient, and he urged people not to stockpile fuel unnecessarily.

“A gap has emerged between demand and supply because consumption has risen,” he said. “We are continuing to supply fuel at the usual rate. When demand increases sharply, a temporary disruption can occur—it’s a simple matter to understand.”

He assured that everyone will receive fuel according to their needs and stressed that there is no cause for alarm. He added that if people avoid excessive purchases, the supply situation will remain stable.

Tuku also noted that while the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission is responsible for adjusting fuel prices, the government has not raised prices so far.
