Telecom operators directed to offer 1GB free internet on 18 July
The day marks one year since the previous government enforced an internet blackout amid a brutal crackdown on peaceful protesters.

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has directed all mobile operators to offer 1GB of free internet to each user on 18 July, commemorating one year since the internet blackout imposed by the former Awami League government during a violent crackdown on peaceful demonstrators.
According to the BTRC directive issued Wednesday, the free data will remain valid for five days. The instruction follows earlier guidelines from the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications.
