BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman is set to unveil the party’s election manifesto for the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election, scheduled for February 12, on Friday (February 6).

Party media cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan said the manifesto will be announced at 3:30pm at the Ballroom of Hotel Sonargaon. The programme will be chaired by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and moderated by Nazrul Islam Khan, a standing committee member and chairman of the party’s Central Election Steering Committee.

Former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia led the party in the 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th parliamentary elections, during which she personally announced each manifesto.

In the 11th parliamentary election in 2018, BNP contested as part of the Jatiya Oikya Front while Khaleda Zia was imprisoned. On December 18 that year, Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the party’s manifesto at Hotel Lakeshore in Gulshan.

BNP, however, boycotted the 10th and 12th parliamentary elections held under the government of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.

Speaking about the upcoming manifesto, Central Election Steering Committee spokesperson Mahdi Amin said BNP is a mass-oriented party committed to grassroots empowerment. “Under the leadership of our Chairman Tarique Rahman, we have engaged with people from all walks of life,” he said.

He added that the manifesto has been prepared by incorporating opinions gathered from across society through the party, its wings and affiliated organisations, with adjustments made in line with contemporary needs. “BNP is bringing forward a manifesto aimed at resolving people’s problems and transforming their lives,” he said.

Mahdi further noted that the party’s vision is to build a truly people-empowered Bangladesh. “At every stage, our manifesto focuses on public empowerment, people’s ownership of the state, protection of rights, security, and inclusive development—so that citizens and their families can enjoy a better quality of life,” he added.
