Prime Minister inaugurates Surma riverfront beautification and flood protection project in Sylhet

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Saturday inaugurated a major project aimed at beautifying the Surma riverfront and building flood protection infrastructure along both banks at Chandni Ghat in Sylhet.

He laid the foundation stone at the site at 11:00 am. His spouse, Dr Zubaida Rahman, was present at the time. Also in attendance were Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, the Prime Minister’s Adviser Humaiun Kobir, and Sylhet City Corporation Administrator Abdul Kaiyum Chowdhury.

During the programme, officials briefed the Prime Minister on various aspects of the project. Earlier in the day, Tarique Rahman offered fateha at the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal before attending the inauguration ceremony.
