PM says government has begun efforts to deliver on election pledges.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said the government has already begun implementing its commitments to the public, despite its short time in office.

Speaking at a civic reception in Sylhet’s Chandni Ghat area on Saturday, he compared the government to a two-and-a-half-month-old child, noting that just as a newborn needs time before it can walk, the administration also needs time to deliver full results.

The event marked the inauguration of a waterlogging mitigation project undertaken by the Sylhet City Corporation. The prime minister said the government had made several promises before taking office and had already started working to fulfil them.

He also reaffirmed key election pledges, including plans to introduce family cards to support women’s economic empowerment and farmer cards to assist those in the agricultural sector. He added that priority would be given to developing young talent in sports and other fields to help shape the country’s future.

Local representatives, party leaders and senior officials were present at the event.
