Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is continuing urgent official duties from his Gulshan residence in the capital during the Eid holidays, according to his Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman.
Speaking on Wednesday (18 March), Ruman said the Prime Minister has been closely monitoring key government activities despite the ongoing holiday.
He has sought updates on the nationwide canal excavation programme, including its progress and oversight, and has remained in contact with the relevant ministers.
The Prime Minister has also spoken with mayors and administrators of various city corporations, urging them to ensure cleanliness during the festive period. Additionally, he has been receiving updates on Eid travel by communicating with concerned ministers and state ministers.
Although the public holiday began on Tuesday, the Prime Minister attended office at the Secretariat the same day, where he chaired a cabinet meeting and a session of the Farmers Card implementation committee.
The Eid holiday began on Tuesday and will continue until March 23.
Eid-ul-Fitr 2026 is expected to be observed on either Friday or Saturday, depending on the sighting of the moon.
