Since 2009 up to September 2025, the National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO) has resolved a total of 1,67,565 cases and disputes through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), significantly contributing to reducing the country’s case backlog.

In its monthly report, NLASO — a statutory body under the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs — stated that ADR initiatives have been taken in 1,87,986 cases, with 1,84,682 of them initiated by the 64 district legal aid offices.

“A total of 3,24,361 people have benefited so far from cases and disputes settled through ADR,” the report added.

During the same period, the government has provided free legal aid to 1,32,417 inmates through the district legal aid offices, noting that “a total of 13,03,643 cases have received NLASO services so far.”

According to the release, 1,91,493 people received legal advice by calling the national toll-free helpline 16430, while 26,479 individuals accessed services through the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office.

Additionally, 21,844 people received free legal advice from the two Labour Law Aid Cells in Dhaka and Chattogram.

NLASO also realized a total of Tk 293,19,69,581 as compensation for financially insolvent justice seekers during the period — including Tk 286,43,80,550 through the 64 district offices and Tk 6,75,89,031 through the two Labour Law Aid Cells.

Legal aid was provided in 4,43,798 cases in total — 4,35,961 through the District Legal Aid Offices, 4,525 through the Labour Law Aid Cells, and 3,312 through the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office.

Of these, 2,25,591 cases were disposed of through legal aid — including 2,22,496 resolved by the district offices and 2,277 by the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office.
