Nahid Islam may step down to join the formation of a new political party
He stated that the final decision on his resignation would be announced in the coming days.

Information and Broadcasting Adviser Nahid Islam has indicated that he may resign this month to take part in the formation of a new political party.
In an interview with a private television channel, he mentioned that he and other student representatives currently serving as advisers might announce their resignations in the coming days to join the party’s formation process. Back in September, students established the Jatiya Nagorik Committee with the aim of rebuilding the country through consensus.
This committee is now spearheading efforts to launch a new political party, which is expected to be officially announced later this month.
“There are ongoing discussions about forming a new political party led by students or leaders of the mass uprising. However, remaining in the government while being part of such a party is not feasible,” Nahid Islam stated during his interview with Ekattor TV.
“If I determine that working directly with the people is more important than my current role in the government, I will step down and contribute to the party’s formation,” he added.
He also noted that a final decision regarding his resignation would be announced in the coming days.
Recognizing the distinction between forming a political party and participating in electoral politics, he stressed that they are fully aware of the challenges involved as they enter the political arena.
The official launch of the new party is anticipated before the end of February.
