Kyiv is prepared to hold talks with the United States “next week” on proposals related to Russia, President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Saturday that his negotiating team was awaiting word from the United States on further talks aimed at ending the war with Russia.

In his evening address, Zelensky appeared to indicate that a second round of negotiations—set to begin in Abu Dhabi on Sunday and involving US, Russian and Ukrainian officials—had been delayed.

“Ukraine is ready to work in all formats,” Zelensky said, stressing the need for tangible outcomes. “What matters is that meetings take place and deliver results. We are expecting talks next week and are preparing for them.”

His comments came as US envoy Steve Witkoff said he had held “productive and constructive” discussions with Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev in Florida on Saturday.

Ukrainian and Russian delegations met in Abu Dhabi on Friday and Saturday last week for their first face-to-face talks under a plan promoted by President Donald Trump to bring the war to an end. The sides had agreed to reconvene there on Sunday.

However, Zelensky noted on Thursday that the timing and location could change amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran.

The United States has said both sides are nearing an agreement, but Kyiv says they have yet to bridge differences over the crucial issue of territory in any post-war settlement.
