Jamaat to stage rally Tuesday calling for legal recognition of July Charter

Jamaat-e-Islami announced it will hold a “peaceful protest rally” at Bijoynagar in the capital on Tuesday, urging the government to give legal effect to the “July Charter” and “July Declaration.”

The party said in a Facebook post on Monday that the government must also ensure the upcoming February general elections are conducted in line with these two “historic documents.”

According to the post, central and city-level leaders will deliver “important speeches” during the rally. Jamaat has called on its full organisational network and residents of Dhaka to join the event to help ensure fair and credible elections.
