Nationwide Crackdown ‘Operation Devil Hunt’ to Continue Until Threats Are Eliminated: Jahangir

Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has affirmed that the nationwide operation, ‘Operation Devil Hunt’, will persist until all threats are eradicated.

“This operation aims to target those attempting to destabilize the country,” he stated on Sunday.

Jahangir Alam made these remarks while speaking to reporters after inaugurating the newly constructed ‘Mrittika Bhaban’ at the Soil Resource Development Institute in the Khamarbari area of the city, as reported by UNB.

“Many individuals involved in the attacks on students and citizens in Gazipur have already been apprehended, and the remaining perpetrators will soon be brought to justice,” he added.

Operation Devil Hunt Launched Nationwide After Gazipur Attack

The crackdown follows Friday night's attack on students at the residence of former minister AKM Mozammel Haque in Gazipur. In response, the government launched ‘Operation Devil Hunt’, with joint forces initiating operations from Saturday night.

Gazipur Attack: 7 Students Still Under Treatment at DMCH

So far, the joint forces have arrested 40 individuals, suspected to be affiliated with the Awami League, according to Gazipur Superintendent of Police Dr. Chowdhury Jaber Sadek.

Addressing the recent arrest of five senior police officers, Adviser Jahangir Alam stated that the public is well aware of the offenses committed by those taken into custody.
