Islami Andolan to contest the election on its own

Islami Andolan has announced that it will contest the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad election independently, without entering into any alliance with other political parties.

The announcement came from the party’s Senior Joint Secretary General and spokesperson, Gazi Ataur Rahman, during a press conference held at the party’s central office in Purana Paltan at 3:00pm on Friday.

Speaking to reporters, Ataur Rahman said that after the cancellation of the nomination papers of two candidates, the party now has valid nominees campaigning in 268 constituencies.

He added that all of these candidates will stay in the race and none will withdraw their nominations.

He further said that Islami Andolan will support candidates in the remaining 32 constituencies, adding that the party will announce later which parties or candidates it will back in those seats.
