ICT-1 begins delivering its verdict in the crimes against humanity case against Hasina.

The International Crimes Tribunal-1 (ICT-1) began delivering its verdict at 12:50pm today in the crimes against humanity case against three accused — including deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina — over allegations of superior command responsibility for offences committed during the July Mass Uprising.

The three-member bench, led by Justice Golam Mortuza Mozumder, is reading out the judgment in a packed courtroom.

On November 13, the tribunal set today as the date for announcing the verdict.

Heightened security has been deployed in and around the tribunal, with members of the Bangladesh Army, BGB, RAB, and police stationed at all entry points to the court premises.

This is the first case filed with the ICT concerning the state’s crackdown during the July Mass Uprising to reach the judgment stage.
