A gold trader was brutally attacked and robbed while returning home with his wife after closing his shop. The incident occurred around 8:30 PM at Noyarhat market in Ashulia, Savar.

Upon receiving the news, police and military personnel visited the scene. The victim, Dilip Das, 47, owner of Dilip Swarnalay, was severely injured and rushed to Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar, where he succumbed to his injuries at approximately 10:45 PM.

According to Khokon Sarker, the victim's cousin, Dilip Das was closing his shop as usual when three robbers attempted to snatch the gold bag hanging from his neck. Failing to seize it, they attacked him with a machete before forcibly taking the bag and fleeing. His wife, Swarasti Das, recounted that the attackers were young and, after the assault, detonated two cocktails before escaping.

She estimated that the stolen bag contained approximately 20-25 bhoris of gold along with cash, though the exact amount of money was unclear.

Merazur Rehan Pavel, an emergency medical officer at Enam Medical College Hospital, confirmed that Dilip Das suffered deep machete wounds on his chest, face, and back. Despite medical efforts, he could not be saved.

Inspector (Investigation) Mohammad Kamal Hossain from Ashulia police station stated that CCTV footage showed the assailants striking Dilip Das from behind as he was locking his shop. The attackers continued their assault before grabbing the bag and fleeing, with footage also revealing smoke from cocktail explosions. Authorities, including the DB and Dhaka District Police, are actively investigating the case to apprehend the culprits.
