BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday expressed hope that the interim government, led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus, would fulfill its commitments to the people.

“The 15-year struggle for voting rights and basic needs must be realized,” Fakhrul stated while speaking to reporters after paying tribute at the grave of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. He also offered prayers for those who lost their lives in past pro-democracy movements and extended wishes for a joyous Eid celebration for all.

“This Eid feels different from the past 15 years, as people can now celebrate in a more open environment,” he added, expressing optimism about the return of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and acting chairman Tarique Rahman.

Senior BNP leaders, including National Standing Committee members Mirza Abbas and Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, along with party activists, were also present at the event.
