The Election Commission (EC) is set to unveil the roadmap for the 13th parliamentary election on Thursday, following its approval of the plan.

EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed confirmed the development while speaking to reporters at the commission’s Agargaon office in Dhaka on Wednesday.

The approval came at a meeting chaired by Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin at the EC headquarters, attended by the four other commissioners. The meeting also finalized several electoral preparations, including hearings on constituency demarcation.

“We are wrapping up a few more tasks. Hopefully, the election roadmap will be announced tomorrow. I will then be able to provide more details,” Akhtar said.

Earlier, Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus had announced that the polls would be held before Ramadan in February next year, with the EC expected to declare the official schedule in early December.

The roadmap outlines key issues such as party registration, boundary demarcation, election observation, reforms to the Representation of the People Order (RPO), issuance of rules and regulations, IT-based registration, a postal ballot system for expatriates, and procurement of election equipment.
