Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel have been deployed in the Dhaka lower court area ahead of today’s verdict in three plot-scam cases against 47 individuals, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, and daughter Saima Wazed Putul.
Security has been tightened, with an increased police presence in and around the court premises as the judgments are set to be delivered today.
“BGB personnel have been deployed at the court premises in connection with the verdict in the case against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina. Alongside regular security measures, two platoons of Public Order Management (POM) police are currently on duty,” Miah Mohammad Ashis Bin Hasan, Deputy Commissioner of the Prosecution Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, told BSS.
He said patrols and surveillance have been stepped up at key locations both inside the court area and in the surrounding neighbourhoods.
Dhaka Special Judge Court-5 is scheduled to announce the verdicts at 11am.
