The deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) test in the case filed over the rape and murder of child Ramisa in the capital’s Pallabi area has been completed.

Investigators are expecting to submit the charge sheet to the court by tomorrow (24 May), subject to receiving the DNA report.

Speaking to local media on Saturday (23 May), the investigation officer of the case, Sub-Inspector Ahiduzzaman of Pallabi Police Station, said the DNA test had already been completed. He added that the charge sheet could be submitted once the report is received and expressed hope that it would be filed by Sunday.

The accused, who was arrested on 20 May, gave a confessional statement before the court on Wednesday. According to investigators, he admitted to taking yaba before the incident. Metropolitan Magistrate Aminul Islam Junaid recorded the statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and later ordered that the accused be sent to jail.

Investigators said the accused described in his confession how he lured the child into a room and carried out the crime. They added that he later tried to destroy evidence before fleeing the scene. Authorities also said there was no previous dispute with the victim’s family.

The case was filed with Pallabi Police Station on 20 May by the victim’s father, Abdul Hannan Molla. On the same day, police produced both the accused and his wife before the court and submitted separate petitions related to the investigation.
