BNP reserved-seat MP Ferdousi Ahmed Misty has resigned from Parliament following an attack, looting and vandalism at the Radda MCH-FP health centre in Mirpur, Dhaka.

Misty submitted her resignation letter to Parliament Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed on Thursday (October 1), following a directive from Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman.

Her resignation came amid allegations of involvement in the September 24 attack on the health centre in Mirpur-1.

An investigation into the incident is currently underway. The facility was attacked, vandalised and looted on the night of September 24 before being subsequently demolished.

Misty has denied any involvement in the attack.

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said on Wednesday that action would be taken against anyone found to have been involved in the attack and vandalism at the Radda centre, based on the findings of the investigation.
