BNP Holds Virtual Meeting With Finland's Ambassador For Human Rights
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) held a virtual meeting on Wednesday with Finland's Ambassador for Human Rights, Katja Pehrman.
According to a post by the BNP Media Cell, the discussion centered on democracy, human rights, the rule of law in Bangladesh, and the upcoming parliamentary elections.
The BNP also urged the Finnish envoy to expedite visa processing for Bangladeshi citizens—particularly students and families—by easing application procedures from Bangladesh. The party highlighted that visa delays at the Finnish Embassy in Delhi, due to India’s procedures, are hampering Bangladeshi students’ access to higher education in Finland.
Katja Pehrman assured the delegation that their concerns would be taken seriously.
The BNP delegation was led by Standing Committee Member Abdul Moyeen Khan, with BNP Finland chapter President Kamrul Hasan Joni and Mohammad Khairuzman Lincoln, former International Affairs Secretary of the Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal Central Executive Committee, also present.
Jaakko Koivusaari, a diplomat handling South Asia at the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended the meeting as well.
