Bangladesh has reaffirmed its strong commitment to United Nations peacekeeping, expressing its readiness to further enhance contributions in partnership with the UN and the broader international community at a high-level mission event.
The Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the UN in New York hosted a luncheon in honour of Heads of Military Components and Force Commanders serving in UN peacekeeping missions at its premises, according to a message received today.
United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix, Under-Secretary-General for Operational Support Atul Khare, Acting Military Adviser of the Office of Military Affairs Cheryl Pearce, as well as distinguished Force Commanders, senior UN officials and diplomats, attended the event.
In his welcome remarks, Bangladesh’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury, conveyed deep appreciation for the leadership of Force Commanders and Heads of Military Components working in challenging mission environments.
He also paid tribute to peacekeepers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, reaffirming Bangladesh’s enduring commitment to global peacekeeping and its willingness to strengthen contributions in close coordination with the United Nations.
The programme was moderated by Defence Attaché Brigadier General Mohammad Golam Rabbani, who concluded the event by thanking the distinguished guests for their participation.
