Bangladesh Police Making 'Distinctive Contribution' to UN Peacekeeping: Lacroix

The United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix, has commended the Bangladesh Police for their "distinctive role" in international peacekeeping missions.
Lacroix made the remarks during a courtesy visit to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam at the Police Headquarters on Monday afternoon, according to a press release issued by the Police Headquarters.
He lauded the professionalism demonstrated by Bangladeshi police personnel in UN peacekeeping operations, noting their significant contributions in conflict-affected regions across the globe.
IGP Baharul Alam highlighted that Bangladeshi peacekeepers have consistently proven their expertise and competence on the international stage.
"We are determined to uphold this tradition of professionalism in the years to come," he said, affirming Bangladesh Police's readiness to deploy additional personnel for UN peacekeeping duties.
The police chief also expressed his appreciation to the UN Secretary-General and relevant UN bodies for their continued support of Bangladesh Police in peacekeeping initiatives.
The meeting was attended by Brooke Shawn, Political Affairs Officer to the Under-Secretary-General, Additional IGP (Crime and Operations) Khandaker Rafiqul Islam, Defense Adviser to the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the UN Brigadier General Mohammad Golam Rabbani, DIG (Operations) Md. Rezaul Karim, and Additional DIG (UN Operations) Md. Abdullah Al-Mamun.
