Attorney General Asaduzzaman has stepped down.
Md Asaduzzaman, Bangladesh’s 17th attorney general, has stepped down from his position to contest in the 13th parliamentary election.
Deputy Attorney General Md Asad Uddin confirmed to BSS that Asaduzzaman has signed his resignation letter, which is set to be sent to the president on Sunday.
A senior lawyer of the Supreme Court, Asaduzzaman was appointed attorney general on August 8, 2024.
He will contest the upcoming election as a BNP candidate from the Jhenaidah-1 (Shailkupa) constituency.
Prior to his appointment as attorney general, Asaduzzaman served as Human Rights Secretary of the BNP Central Executive Committee and was an adviser to party chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
