Abbas hails Canada’s ‘historic’ move to recognise Palestinian state: Wafa

Palestinian Territories, July 31, 2025 – Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has welcomed Canada’s “historic” decision to recognise the State of Palestine, according to a report by Wafa on Wednesday.

During a phone call with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Abbas expressed his appreciation, saying the move would contribute to “strengthening peace, stability, and security in the region,” the official Palestinian news agency reported.
