Two students drown at a waterfall in Mirsarai, Chattogram.

Two tourists drowned this morning at Rupashi Jharna (waterfall) in the Kamaldah area of Mirsarai, Chattogram. The victims have been identified as Mushfiqur Rahman, 21, a student at East West University in Dhaka, and Mahbub Rahman Mustakim, 21, a student at Narayanganj Government College, according to reports from our Chattogram correspondent, citing police and fire service personnel.

A group of 13 students had arrived in Mirsarai from Dhaka to visit Rupashi Jharna. Around 9:00 am, Mustakim accidentally slipped into the water. Mushfiqur, while attempting to rescue him, also drowned, explained Imam Hossain Patwari, Senior Station Officer of Mirsarai Fire Service. 

Upon receiving the information, divers from the Fire Service and Civil Defence arrived at the scene and recovered the bodies around 1:00 pm. Deputy Inspector Md Momin Hossain of Nizampur Police Outpost stated that the bodies of the two tourists are currently being held at the police station.
