NCTB revokes leave for all officers and employees
Staff members will forgo weekly holidays for nearly two months to ensure timely delivery of textbooks.
The National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) has cancelled all holidays for its officials and employees to ensure the timely distribution of government-funded textbooks to school children in January.
NCTB Chairman Professor Dr. AKM Riazul Hasan informed reporters that the holidays have been officially suspended, with staff working extended hours daily, including weekends, for nearly two months.
An official order issued on Tuesday stated that as the publication and distribution of textbooks is a matter of national importance, all weekly and other holidays for NCTB staff have been cancelled.
As per tradition, textbooks for classes 1 to 10 are scheduled to be distributed to all school-going children on January 1. However, political unrest this year disrupted the printing and editing processes, posing challenges to the usual timeline.
