Leaders of an Islamic party are set to visit China
For the first time, a delegation consisting of leaders from Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Chhatra Shibir, and four other Islamic parties is visiting China. The 14-member delegation, led by Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, the central Nayeb-e-Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami and a former Member of Parliament, departed on their flight last night. The visit is at the invitation of the ruling Communist Party of China (CPC), marking the first time that leaders from Jamaat or any Islamic party have received an official invitation from the CPC.
The delegation is scheduled to return to Bangladesh on December 5. When asked about the purpose of the visit, Abdullah Mohammad Taher referred to it as a courtesy visit but declined to provide further details.
This visit follows a recent trip to China by a four-member delegation from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), led by Vice Chairman Asaduzzaman Ripon. The BNP team returned to Bangladesh on November 16.
