Clash erupts in Mirpur between Shakib supporters and critics

A clash erupted in Mirpur on Sunday between supporters of cricketer Shakib Al Hasan and his critics. The altercation occurred around 3pm when Shakib's fans gathered to demand his inclusion in the South Africa series and express other grievances.
As tensions rose, opponents of Shakib attacked the protesters, causing chaos. Police and military forces were deployed to disperse the crowds and restore order.
Earlier, fans had staged a march outside the stadium, calling for Shakib to retire on home soil. However, the demonstration was disrupted by his critics, leading to the physical confrontation.
Just days before, Shakib had flown from the U.S. to play his final Test in Bangladesh, with the condition that he would only play if adequate security was provided, after which he intended to retire. However, he returned to Dubai before arriving in Bangladesh.
Shakib's supporters continue to push for his return to play, while his critics accuse him of aligning with the "fascist regime" and demand he not represent the national team.
