BNP and Islami Andolon Bangladesh (IAB) have reached a consensus on a 10-point decision, which includes holding a credible national election within a short time, after completing the necessary "minimum" reforms.

The two parties also agreed to avoid any actions that go against Islamic Sharia, and to refrain from making statements that undermine Islam.

These decisions were made following a nearly two-hour meeting between BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and IAB Ameer Syed Md Rezaul Karim on Monday.

Mirza Fakhrul shared the outcome of the meeting at IAB’s central office in the capital’s Purana Paltan area, saying, "We had a discussion with Maulana Syed Rezaul Karim, and we have largely agreed on 10 points." The IAB Ameer mentioned that their talks covered political issues, the country's situation, and humanitarian concerns, adding that these points align with the BNP's presented statements.

Other decisions made include promoting national unity to establish an independent, sovereign, and sustainable state, free from hegemony, expansionism, and imperialism; bringing corrupt individuals, terrorists, murderers, and money launderers to justice, ensuring exemplary punishments; fostering national unity to safeguard human rights, including voting rights; controlling the rise in commodity prices; ensuring the rights of all deprived individuals; restoring law and order; and promptly removing remaining associates of Awami fascism from the administration.

The two parties also agreed to collaborate with all anti-Awami fascist forces to build the country, avoid making hostile remarks within their political camp, and stay united politically to prevent any fascist forces, like the Awami League, from regaining power in the future.

Fakhrul, along with BNP Vice Chairman Barkat Ullah Bulu, visited the IAB office around 12:05 pm for the meeting, which was attended by IAB Senior Presidium member Principal Syed Mosaddek Billah Al Madani, Secretary General Principal Maulana Yunus Ahmad, Presidium member Professor Ashraf Ali Akon, Senior Joint Secretary General Maulana Gazi Ataur Rahman, and Joint Secretary General Maulana Imtiaz Alam.

Earlier, on January 21, Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman and IAB Ameer Syed Md Rezaul Karim had also met at the Charmonai Darbar Sharif in Barishal.
