The government has implemented a comprehensive plan to ensure the safety and security of devotees and maintain law and order during the upcoming Durga Puja festival. A set of directives has been issued to local administrations and law enforcement agencies for this purpose.

Jahirul Haque, Senior Assistant Secretary of the Home Ministry's Public Security Division (Political Wing-2), issued the instructions through an official memorandum on Wednesday.

According to the memorandum, authorities will enhance intelligence surveillance and increase patrols by the Bangladesh Police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and other law enforcement agencies. Social media platforms will also be strictly monitored to prevent posts that could inflame religious sentiments.

The memorandum emphasized taking precautionary measures to prevent any incidents and urged immediate action in case of any disturbances. Local administration, law enforcement, and other stakeholders will visit Durga Puja mandaps as part of these efforts.

Caution will be exercised on social media to curb objectionable comments or posts that could harm religious harmony or spread rumors. Puja celebration committees will assign volunteers and watchmen (at least three during the day and four at night) to guard the mandaps continuously.

Plans are in place to install CCTV cameras at mandaps, with security personnel including police, BGB, Ansar, RAB, and other forces being deployed during the festival.

Additionally, deputy commissioners (DCs) and upazila nirbahi officers (UNOs) will form monitoring committees at the local level, involving Hindu devotees, community leaders, and students, to ensure the safety of the mandaps.
