A total of 252 sub-inspectors undergoing basic training at the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah, Rajshahi, are being dismissed for disciplinary violations. The academy’s principal, Additional Inspector General of Police Md Masudur Rahman Bhuiyan, confirmed on Tuesday morning that the officers will be discharged in phases, and the process is currently underway, with official letters being issued.

To qualify for the sub-inspector position, candidates must pass physical, written, oral, and computer skills tests, followed by a medical examination. Successful candidates then enter a one-year basic training program at Sardah as "outside cadets." This year’s batch had 704 trainees.

Typically, the passing-out parade for outside cadets occurs in October or November, after which they are deployed to various police units for fieldwork. Their positions become permanent after completing a year of fieldwork.
