At least 14 people were killed and two others injured in separate lightning strike incidents across seven districts on Sunday.

In Gaibandha, five people — including two teenage boys — died in Sundarganj, Saghata and Phulchari upazilas. The victims were Fuad, 14; Rafi, 15; Mizan, 20, all from Dakkhin Dhopadanga village in Sundarganj; Nombar Ali, 65, from Helencha village in Saghata; and Manik Hossain, 22, from Phulchari.

In Thakurgaon, two people, including a woman, were killed in Pirganj upazila. The deceased were Ilias Ali, 37, of Koshadangipara and Selina Akter. Police confirmed the incidents occurred in the Koshadangipara and Niamatpur areas.

In Panchagarh, a tea worker was killed and two others injured after lightning struck while they were working in a tea garden in Sonapatila village of Atwari upazila. The deceased, Suhrawardy, was 35.

In Sirajganj, two farmers were killed in separate incidents in Tarash and Raiganj upazilas. The victims were Abdul Hamid, 50, from Betrashin village, and Hasan Ali, 24, from Mallik Chan village.

In Jamalpur, a farmer and a housewife were killed in Sadar and Melandah upazilas. The deceased were Morjina Begum, 40, from Koroichora village, and Hasmat Ali, 45, from Char Jothartopur. Hospital officials said both were brought in dead.

In Natore, Samrat Hossain, 26, a paddy harvesting worker from Sirajganj’s Shahjadpur upazila, was killed by lightning in Singra upazila.

In Bogura, a farmer named Suman, 35, was killed in a lightning strike in Muchikhali village of Gabtali upazila.
