UIU students block Natun Bazar intersection protesting 'unjust' expulsions

Students of United International University (UIU) blocked Dhaka’s Natun Bazar intersection this morning, protesting what they called "arbitrary" expulsions of several students and accusing the university administration of "authoritarian" behavior.
Following an earlier announcement, students began gathering at the intersection around 8:30am. They chanted slogans, held placards, and occupied the road, bringing traffic to a standstill.
The demonstrators claimed that several students had been expelled without prior notice or any explanation. They vowed to continue their protest until a full investigation is conducted and those responsible within the administration are held accountable.
“We won’t leave until our demands are fulfilled. We’ve tried to raise these issues peacefully many times, but no one listened,” said one protesting student.
Around 9:30am, an official from Bhatara Police Station confirmed that students blocked the road starting from approximately 8:45am and the demonstration was ongoing.
