Tasnim said people have turned away from politics dominated by money and muscle power

National Citizen Party (NCP) Senior Joint Member Secretary Tasnim Jara has said that the people have rejected the decades-old political culture dominated by money and muscle power.
“The July mass uprising was not simply about replacing political figures; it was about dismantling the entire fascist system that has long held the country captive,” she remarked.
Tasnim made the comments while speaking at a session of the two-day Bengal Delta Conference 2025, held at a city hotel today.
She added, “The July Uprising clearly demonstrated that the people of Bangladesh no longer accept a political system run by money and muscle power.”
The session, titled ‘Reform and Reality: Bangladesh’s Changing Political Landscape’, was moderated by Professor Dr Asif Shahan of the Department of Development Studies at the University of Dhaka.
Participants in the discussion included Dr David Jackman, Departmental Lecturer in Development Studies at the University of Oxford, and Dr Mahdi Amin, Advisor to the Acting Chairman of BNP.
Opening the discussion, Dr Jackman observed that financial influence and muscle power remain dominant forces in Bangladesh’s politics, with the misuse of money—especially in election campaigns—fueling extortion and abuse of authority.
The conference was organised by the Dacca Institute of Research and Analytics.
